Bandera Market

Farmers Market in San Antonio

Bandera Market first opened in 2018. When COVID-19 hit in 2020, the previous owners decided to close the market down. The good thing is that Gilda and Vanessa stepped in and purchased the market from its previous owners. They were already vendors of the market and knew that the closure would not only affect them, but other local vendors and customers as well! They re-opened the market with COVID-19 precautions in place and since then has been known as the safest market to visit during the pandemic. The market is a veteran and women-owned small business and they're open the whole year round with a special monthly night market. Their mission? Simple. To provide a safe, cost-effective, and drama--free avenue for local and small businesses to offer their products for sale to the local community! They reopened the market as a state-certified farmer’s market offering year-round produce, honey, artisan bread and Texan-made products and more. Bandera Market is a proud member of Go Texan! Recently nominated as #2 farmer’s market by SA Current and SA Express News readers, Bandera Market is a great place to visit any weekend as it is a year-round market.P.S. This is a pet-friendly market!

CatSpring Yaupon TeaNo Own Retail Location

Artisan Food Producer in Cat Spring

Born out of desire to rediscover the lost American resources of yaupon tea and under-served Texans, Cat Spring Tea sustainably harvests “Yaupon”, the only caffeinated plant native to America, while creating second chance employment opportunities. Although enjoyed for centuries by Native Americans and a powerful source of jitter free energy and antioxidants, the use of the tea plant has been forgotten. With harvesting, processing, and packaging all done by hand, the yaupon tea making process requires a large amount of skilled and unskilled labor. Cat Spring Tea creates second chance employment job positions, amplifying the message that, although overlooked, our people and our product have great value. Cat Spring Tea collaborates with Texas organizations that offer support for individuals fighting poverty, previous incarcerations, addictions, disability, and other personal obstacles.Need your Yaupon Tea Fix? Victory Oasis Farm

Farm & Ranch in Waco

Cynthia H. Lyons opened the Victory Oasis Farm in March 2014 intending to produce food for the heart, mind, and body. With hopes to bring the most environmentally-friendly products, she can satisfy the food needs of locavores in Texas, or those who love locally-grown food. They take care of plants as nature would by doing practices like mulching every plant and giving plants rainwater. Aside from that, they handplant and handpick everything to perfection. The farm is also planting a whole 50-ft row of product which they give away to the poor and misfortunate people. Some of the plants they grow are cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, potatoes, lettuce, okra, kale, cabbage, onions, peas, and greens. She sells these naturally-grown hand-picked at Heart of Texas Farmers Market. "Everything was so fresh yummy!"
