Wylie is a city that used to be only situated in Collin County but now goes in both Dallas and Rockwall counties as well. The town’s first name was Nickelville and the town was established in the early 1870s. The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway was being built around half a mile of the original townsite in 1886. The community moved to the railroad one year after and after that the town of Wylie was incorporated. The city has a total population of 41,427 residents. The city has a total area of around 35 square miles and 40% of the area is covered in water.
