Cooley Bay Winery is the only Winery in the city of Van Alstyne and famous for its signature drink, "The Cooley", this winery is "located just a tad more than 40 miles directly north of Dallas (in the Texoma AVA), and immediately near its Highway 75 exit". They have "nice balance of traditional Texas wines as well as some lovely fruit wines". "Most of the menu is sweet wines" but even if "you don't like wines because they are bitter or taste nasty", relax and enjoy and give this "very laid back and relaxing" place a try. "You won't regret it". They have live music on the second and fourth Saturdays, and Cooley Craft Day on the first Sundays of each month.

The Railcar Farmers Market of Van Alstyne received official recognition from the Texas Department of Agriculture as a Certified Farmers Market In April 2019. It was opened in April 2018, and it continues to be a hit today. In July 2019, the market moved to a better location on Main and Cooper St. The new location has a wall of trees on each side and gives vendors and shoppers a cooler shaded venue during its weekly Tuesday market days. The Music in the Park continues nearby every third Tuesday of the month.Despite its size, the market offers an abundance of fresh greens, fruits, and other vegetables. At Wholesome Farms and Gardens in Van Alstyne, you can buy pastured meat. They have pasture-raised pork, pasture-raised chickens, grass-fed & finished beef, and pastured eggs. Also, the farm sells a new heritage breed dairy for raw and non-homogenized milk products. Although not certified organic, they don't use pesticides and don't add preservatives or artificial flavorings to their products. Moreover, their animals eat non-GMO diets (mostly native prairie grass). In fact, they haven't had a sick animal to date that needed to take antibiotics.
