It was a long road to opening their own brewery for Armadillo Ale Works founders Bobby Mullins and Yianni Arestis. The brewery finally opened its doors on June 1, 2018, but their story starts much earlier. It actually starts in 2010 when the resilient duo won a grant to pursue their dream of brewing their own beers. Since then, they’ve run a successful Kickstarter campaign, had a location deal that went south, and overcame alienating their fans because of a supply disruption.  Uniquely, the brewery claims the distinction of having won prestigious industry awards without ever having its own brewing facility. Now settled at their Denton location, they continue to craft their award-winning beers and sodas. They even brew coffee at the taproom. The space is also available for special event venue rentals, with liquid refreshments from the brewery, of course.

Barley & Board, Denton's first Gastropub, is housed in a historic building from 1858 in downtown Denton. Enjoy a serene atmosphere and original brick walls while savoring an ever-changing menu featuring fresh, high-quality ingredients and handcrafted brews. Try the truffled portobello fries or charcuterie board, or go for a more substantial dish like the curried shrimp & grits. Denton County Brewing Company is the brainchild of Seth and Jen Morgan. The husband and wife initially envisioned the brewery as “Denton’s second living room”, where Denton residents can “(hang) out on your couch”. These days, they call it Denton’s “adult playground (with) board games, trivia nights, delicious appetizers, and the coolest bar staff”. The brewery has been serving craft beers “born and brewed in Denton” since 2017. Besides their house brews, they also serve a selection of wine, sake, ciders, and beers from other local breweries. For $1,000, customers can buy a “Biersal”. With reference to German mythical folklore, Biersal members get a free beer for life. The “Augustine – The Extended Experience” at $295, meanwhile, gives members discounts to beers and early access to new beer releases, among other benefits.

Skott and Bryan Knowles are brothers and both share a passion for craft beers. Together with brother-in-law Chaz, the husband of their sister Kristy, they started homebrewing at Bryan’s kitchen. Bit by bit, they’ve expanded their operations to accommodate bigger tanks and capacities. They’ve even thought of knocking down walls in their houses to realize their dreams. Skott and Bryan Knowles are now deep in the process of realizing Knowles Brothers Craft Brewing’s commercial operations. They’ve been popping up at different events around North Texas, and letting others sample their brews. Their mission is “to brew a wide range of excellent and innovative craft brews”.
