Texas Cities & Towns Starting with I

Indians played a significant role in the history of Texas as they were generally the first settlers in the area; Texas might be a new world for the European explorers back in the 1500s, but for American Indians, it had long been their world filled with traditions, beliefs, and culture. The tribes of American Indians such as the Caddo, Apache, Comanche, Karankawa, Coahuiltecan, Neches, Tonkawa, and Wichita arrived in the area 11 decades before the Spanish explorers came, and they have established themselves as well-equipped hunters, traders, artisans, food-collectors, and healers. Some brought goodwill, some brought conflict. Nevertheless, the state of Texas commemorates its history through the names of its cities and places such as the Waxahachie, Nacogdoches, Anahuac, Comanche Peak, and Caddo Lake.
