Built in 1902, Fischer Store is owned by Hermann Fischer's descendants, who are focused on “preserving and sharing the history” of the general store, the family, and the community. Throughout its history, the Fischer Store has been passed down, “generation after generation.” The business grew over the years until, at one point, it was the “largest inland mercantile establishment in Texas.” It was also a place where distant neighbors, living in remote areas, could gather and socialize. Whenever you stop by, you'll find multiple generations of Fischers either “hard at work, eating sausage, or telling stories.” At times, you can also find them at the farmers market.
They also have a Saturday market where they sell fresh produce from local farms.
