Located in central Texas and named after the Concho River, the Concho County was formed in 1858. The county was formally organized in 1879, and Paint Rock was voted to be the county seat. Paint Rock was named for the pictographs that were discovered in the area. Agriculture is Conco's primary industry, with sheep, cattle, goats, and feed grain as its key products. For recreation, residents and tourists can try boating, fishing, hunting, and visiting the Paint Rock pictographs. The Concho County Fair, held annually in August and September, is also a must-see!
