The area where Willow City is set now was settled after the Civil War. It was an area where all the English speakers could come down to meet in Gillespie County in Texas. The community itself is unincorporated. But even though it is unincorporated, the community was granted a post office by the name of “Willow” in 1877. The community was renamed after its increase in population and size to “Willow City”. The town’s population was around 75 citizens as of the 2000 years. The Willow City School which was built in 1905 was included in the National Register of Historic Places in Texas on the sixth of May in 2005.
