Smart Growth Farms is the only livestock farmer in the San Antonio area that raises pastured lamb, chicken & pork. First established in 2019, this family-owned farm in San Antonio, Texas is working towards its goal of being able to rehabilitate its land through regenerative agriculture practices and become a full-time on-farm by 2027 with the support of the San Antonio Metro. Also, the focus on these three specific meat sources allows the owners to help regenerate and improve the quality of their grazing fields. Their growing flock of grass-fed St. Croix sheep is rotationally grazed to ensure that both their livestock and grazing fields are well taken care of.

You will be "very impressed with the variety and quality of the vegetables and fruits" that they "display at the market". They are at Frisco Fresh Market on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Talking Tree Farm is a permaculture farm cooperative in Guadalupe, Texas. They sell at the Pearl Brewery Farmers Market on Saturdays 9-1 pm and Sundays 10-2 pm. Not only involved in vegetable farming but they also assist in humanitarian services. Their posts regarding these are found on their Facebook page. Buy "some greens" from them and if you "didn't get to eat them till 3 or 4 days later", they are "still fresh". They may have their own style of keeping "them in the balloon bags" which makes them "still fresh". Updates on their farm are available on their Facebook page too. P.S. Terra Madre Mini Farm

Terrapin Farms, Texas Dorper Lamb

Texas Dorper Lamb is a family-owned ranch, located near Center Point in the Texas Hill Country. A farm dedicated to selling high-quality Coastal Bermuda hay and Dorper breeding sheep livestock. Dorper is to Lamb what Angus is to Beef and they are the best breed for the meat! These are also 100% Dorper market lambs and packaged lamb cuts. Dorper is a single-purpose breed, developed specifically for premium meat characteristics. They do not produce as much lanolin as wool sheep but the flavor and aroma of the meat are milder than wool sheep meat. There are also abundant coastal hay, native grasses, and forbs on their place along the banks of the Guadalupe River which is very conducive to sheep. Raising “all-natural” lamb is the best way to achieve the highest quality product with the fewest negative impacts.
