Santa Maria Cellars

Santa Maria Cellars is a winery that "has a bit of Argentinian flare!" Their "red wine is amazing" and "if you like Malbec, this is THE place to go". The "owners are welcoming and pleasant" and even if you are "not a huge red drinker", you will be "converted" especially "with their delicious Red Moscato". You might be able to finish an "entire bottle" while sitting on a "lovely (covered) patio with a fountain that overlooks the beautiful Hill Country". Their "patio is big with comfy seating" and the "view is panoramic". The "wait staff" is "very friendly and considerate". They will even offer a "cheese/bread appetizer plate" that is already "good and filling" and the "meat" is "tender and delicious". Visit and "come for the wine but stay for the enjoyment".

Scimitar Hill Vineyard

Scimitar Hill Vineyard "has one of those breath-taking views that are so majestic and a passionate owner". The place "is a stunning spot to stop, that is a bit out of the way, but so very much worth your time and effort". You can "sit outside to enjoy some cheese and snacks, that you can bring yourself while watching the horse and donkey in the distance with the backdrop of the hill country". Unfortunately, as of August 12th, 2018 they will be serving tastings by appointment only. They have already posted on their website to just keep coming back to their website to see their progress. You can also send an email and see if they can set something up.

Signor Vineyards

Winery in Fredericksburg -

Signor Vineyards is a "great vineyard on gorgeous land" with a patio that is "well covered with shade". They "have plenty of fans throughout the property" so "don’t let the Texas heat fool you". Visit and "enjoy the patio seating where you'll be surrounded by beautiful landscaping and gardens". They offer "wine flights as well as wine by the glass". They have "a sister vineyard in Oregon, so most of the wines are from that state" but "they do offer some from the Texas High Plains region". The "charcuterie board presentation" is "exceptional" and their "red wines are fantastic". "If you are heading to Fredericksburg, this place is a must!". They are also "dog-friendly".

Singing Water Vineyards

Singing Water Vineyards is a "beautiful drive from San Antonio". Enjoy a visit to this scenic Hill Country vineyard and winery located up in the hills just south of Comfort on the banks of Bruins Creek. A "great place to relax, drink some wine, have some fresh food, and often have great music on weekends too". Their tour and tasting are sure to lower your stress level. A "comfortable and classy place out of the heat" with "great wines". Their "chocolate and locally made gelato" are "very good". They also have "a bottle called “Freedom” where a portion of sales goes to Military Veterans!"

Sister Creek Vineyards

Winery in Boerne -

Sister Creek Vineyards is located between the cypress-lined East and West Sister Creeks in a restored 1885 cotton gin. They have barrel aging and minimal filtration methods to make the wines retain their full flavor. Their "wines are very tasty and the self-guided tour is awesome". You can "wear something warm when going on the tour as it is very cold inside". With "well trained and passionate people to teach you about wine in a rustic historical setting", they offer an "amazing assortment of delicious wines", "from dry to sweet and there is something for everyone". Visit and enjoy their wines. They are "not far from Boerne and close to Luckenbach".

Six Shooter Cellars

Winery in Fredericksburg -

With over 40 choices, Six Shooter Cellars has one of the largest sweet fruit and mead selections on 290. You can pick any six for $15 or come out and try their famous Jalapeno Shot. They "have a good variety of wines and during the weekends they might also have cheese and crackers to go with your wine tasting". With "everything to wine tasting to snacks to beer", they "have a jalapeńo shot that is very good as well". You will have "the best time wine tasting at this cellar". You will be "looking forward to going back" because "it’s not just a stop on tour, it’s an experience!"

Southold Farm and Cellar

Winery in Fredericksburg -

Southold Farm and Cellar is "a beautiful place with a terrific view". The "back porch and swings are great for hanging out with a bottle of wine". Their "wines are very unique from fermenting with skins and stems in concrete containers (instead of wood)". The wines that are "produced" are "low intervention, juicy, and often made with more obscure grapes". Check their website and "make sure to call and have an appointment". They can only "accommodate a tasting every half hour given the size of their operation". It is a "reservation-only tasting experience" so you can get an "in-depth description of the story behind the winery and the method by which the wine is produced".

Texas Heritage Vineyard

Winery in Fredericksburg -

Texas Heritage Vineyard is a "friendly boutique winery in Fredericksburg, Texas". They "opened their tasting room on highway 290 to the public last May". They have a "Good Mix of white and red Texas wines". You will "love the Tempranillo" which has "full of flavor with a touch of boldness and silky lingering tannins that begs to be paired with a nice Texas ribeye" and the "Malbec" which is "quite fruit-forward with a touch of leather" taste. There is also a "fun, lively, welcoming atmosphere with some wonderful live music out back that has a beautiful view". Enjoy their wines at the patio that has "the best sunset views".

The Stray Grape Urban Winery

You "may wonder how a winery can be in a nondescript strip mall" but "do not let the location stop you from visiting". The Stray Grape Urban Winery "is a cute little place on the northeast side of town". This "place is really nice and relaxing" with "live music". They only produce  30 bottles at a time and each wine contains low-sulfides for freshness aside from decreased headaches. Aside from being a "great place to try new wines", you will also be "impressed with the service" when you visit. The staff is also "very helpful if you are not sure what your tastes in wine are". You can even "bottle your own wine and create labels if you have an event or something".

The Wine Garage

Winery in Fredericksburg -

You will have "a great wine experience, especially if you have guys with you who enjoy cars" when you visit The Wine Garage. The "tasting comes with a tour of the classic cars in the back" which will be "so much fun". The "employees are happy, energetic, and always welcoming". You will really "enjoy the tasting here" with wines such as the "mimosa and malbec" which are "great". They have an "impressive selection of wines" and they "specialize in dry reds and whites". It's a "really unique tasting experience" with an "owner" that is "more than happy to interact with guests and tell" guests "about his collection of absolutely jaw-dropping and amazing cars".

Threshold Vineyards

Threshold Vineyards is a vineyard and winery near Navasota, Texas. They sell wine, offer wine tasting, and they have a great location for picnics. It does not have to be a special occasion you have been planning to celebrate for months. It could be a simple weekend break from a stressful workweek. Threshold Vineyards has everything you need for a soothing respite with nothing but rest and relaxation. They have delicious wine (white and red, take your pick!), a great view in their picnic grounds, and a friendly staff eager to help make your visit a memorable one!

Timber Ridge Winery

Winery in Pipe Creek -

Timber Ridge Winery is the only winery in Bandera County and they are located on the eastern edge near Pipe Creek. You will notice that the labels on their wines are a reflection of the local features in their area. A tree pictured on the Merlot label. This tree is also in the parking lot. Their Orange Muscat has a picture of the rock structure that visitors can see upon entering their place. There are "not many options out" there "but this one has a great wine". You will "loved the Orange Muscat" of this "small winery with big dreams!" Their Merlot is "nice" which is a "dryer variety". They have no website but they have a Facebook page. It is better to call them first before visiting and make sure it is the Texas location and not the one located in Pennsylvania.

Vintners Hideaway

Winery in Fredericksburg -

The place was originally built in the 1930s. It was a Nash Rambler auto dealership before becoming Vintners Hideaway, an upscale wine tasting room with a very cool vibe. They are "tucked just 1 block off the square". It's a "lovely tasting room with a number of varietals just off Main and away from the crowds". They have "several vintners’ wines as well as a few they bottle" and they offer a "variety of whites, rose, and reds". They also have "very knowledgeable and attentive staff" that are "enthusiastic and excited to teach" and "help novice wine drinkers". It's a great experience visiting this winery and "enjoy an intimate experience often lost on busy Main Street".

Water 2 Wine at New Braunfels

Winery in New Braunfels -

This is another branch of Water 2 Wine and it is a "quaint little place in downtown New Braunfels" with "a great vibe, cool outdoor patio". The "atmosphere is charming and inviting" and "the wines are excellent". There is "no food available, other than the standard chips and crackers; but you can bring in food with you". You will still have "a great time" because there are "great little platters to go with their selections of wine" which are all "delicious". You can "make your own wine labels for special occasions". Visit and have an "excellent experience" because "this is definitely a “go-to” place in Downtown NB". 

Whisper Path Cellars

Winery in San Antonio -

Whisper Path Cellars is located in San Antonio. They have won their "first medal" on their "very first vintage" in LSIWC. The Lone Star International Wine Competition (LSIWC) is the oldest wine competition in Texas. Their Tempranillo and Monastrell are the wines that have won bronze medals. You can find these wines and their other wines at selected wine shops, tasting rooms, and restaurants in the San Antonio and Hill Country regions. You can also buy their wines at their online shop. Check out their website for upcoming events and newly released wines. They are a winery only with no tasting room.

Winery on the Gruene

Winery in New Braunfels -

Winery on the Gruene is "located just up the hill from Guadalupe River about a block west of Gruene Hall". The place is "charming with that modern industrial farm decor". There are "lots of room to sit inside or out" and "there is even space upstairs to sit or rent out for private parties". They are "very friendly" and it has a "comfortable environment". They have a "great selection of award-winning wines". The "tasting serving are healthy pour and provide the opportunity to enjoy a little more of each wine". You can also make your special occasion even better by making your own wine and designing your own original label.
