The Cherry Laurel was established in 1990 by two best friends, Bonnie and Linda, after they transformed a dilapidated house into a restaurant that provided homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts, and “a casual and unique dining experience” to the citizens of Athens, Texas.  Then in 1997, a beloved local bakery owner passed the reins to Bonnie and Linda, giving rise to The Cherry Laurel Bakery, especially after they perfected their amazing Butterum cake.  Now the Cherry Laurel Bakery, Café and Catering, they serve tasty salads, soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes, wraps and sandwiches, as well as breads, cinnamon rolls, pies and other pastries. And of course, their decadent and beautifully decorated cakes that can be ordered for any and every occasion.

The Clower honey farm specializes in one product, and that's honey! They do not accept walk-ins so be sure to call before dropping by! Their honey is also available in different farmers markets around the Tyler area. Lili’s Hot Tamales is a local food stand in Gun Barrel City that crafts and sells “authentic Mexican tamales” to the community. Their “tamales are to die for!” It’s “absolutely the best tamales; not just around the lake but anywhere!” The “chicken tamales were delicious; they were hot and ready to eat.” You will also “love” their “cactus tamales, cheese and jalapeño tamales, and corn and zucchini,” which is also served the same way.  Without a doubt, this food producer carries an authentic and legendary tamales recipe.
