Open since 2017 and located “in the middle of nowhere”, Wild Bunch Brewery announces its presence once you see its handwritten sign. Brew master Jarle Lillemoen owns and operates Wild Bunch Brewing Company. He and Managing Member Jamie Caras both hold doctoral degrees in biochemistry, which should come in handy at the brewery. Calling his beer the “best damn beer in Texas”, Jarle only uses “high quality ingredients” in his “100% unfiltered beers”. He also uses the traditional method of brewing using an open propane flame throughout the process. He is also non-traditional in the age of state-of-the-art brewing equipment. Yet, his method yields “richer, more intense flavors and colors”. A blogger writes that Wild Bunch as of October 2019 offers seven beers served in jam jars at their taproom. Not bad for a brewery that’s designed and hand-built by Jarle himself. Finally, prior to establishing Wild Bunch, Jarle was the master distiller at Bone Spirits Distillery in Smithville.

Texas Beer Company is one of those success stories that really took off because of the community. Founded by J.D. Gins and Ian Davis, this Taylor-based brewery counts a gold medal win at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival for their Pecos Amber Lager among their many achievements. Huff Brewing Company

Huff Brewing Company is located in the small town of Bellville. Opened in 2012, husband and wife Ryan and Christine Huff own and operate the small brewery with a commitment to creating excellent beers. It is located about four miles from downtown Bellville. The brewery is a first for the town since Prohibition shutdown a brewery in 1918. Among its lineup of beers are the Huffmeister and Huff’s Original Amber. Both Ryan and Christine maintain their full-time jobs and share bar tending duties. This is why the taproom is only open on Fridays. The couple didn’t initially set out to establish a taproom. Texas now has plenty of brewpubs, but when Blackwater Draw Brewing Co. (aka BWD) opened in Northgate in College Station, it was the first in College Station. Granger City Brewing Company
