There’s nothing random about Thirsty Planet Brewing Company’s methods when it comes to brewing great craft beers. Everything has a purpose. For example, they started back in 2010 with just ales, which take less time than lagers. They donate tips gathered at their tasting room to charities, and sponsor several local charities whenever possible, including the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. Local artists get traction and support through their Brite Tank and Event Brite initiatives. They donate spent grains to local farmers, and recycle paper, cardboard, and glass products, too. Business decisions are purposeful, too. They celebrated their seventh year with the launch of Buckethead IPA sold in a special 7-pack beer. Of course, these came in a bucket shaped container. Watch out for the brewery’s taproom reopening. They closed the old one to concentrate on production and distribution, boosting their capacity and making them available on store shelves.

Nomadic Beerworks is an eccentric small batch brewery, pub, and coffee shop serving a wide assortment of self produced beer, wine, cider, coffee, and more in a comfortable climate controlled taproom. It was founded in 2017 by two brothers who are “passionate about brewing and sharing their experiences with others.” They work hard every day to make this brewery a reality. They draw inspiration from people, cuisines, and cultures from all over the globe in order to brew one of a kind beers. The Central District Brewing – as the name implies – is centrally located in Downtown Austin. Opened in March 2019, they opened to serve local Austin beers. Starting May 2019, however, the brewery released their first batch of brews. The brewery is “very well located” at the ground floor of the parking garage next to the Austin Convention Center. That means you won’t ever have to worry about parking! It’s also “an easy walk to the nightlife on 6^th Street”. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby, and it’s “close to the Hilton and Fairmont”. That affirms the popular real estate saying of “location, location, location”! And the beers? The brewery won gold at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival within less than a year of operation for their Wit-tington and beat more established breweries. They’ve also started releasing their first sodas for non-beer drinkers!

Huff Brewing Company is located in the small town of Bellville. Opened in 2012, husband and wife Ryan and Christine Huff own and operate the small brewery with a commitment to creating excellent beers. It is located about four miles from downtown Bellville. The brewery is a first for the town since Prohibition shutdown a brewery in 1918. Among its lineup of beers are the Huffmeister and Huff’s Original Amber. Both Ryan and Christine maintain their full-time jobs and share bar tending duties. This is why the taproom is only open on Fridays. The couple didn’t initially set out to establish a taproom. Instead, the plan was to offer their creations in Houston and supply bars and restaurants in the region. Tip: Occasionally, and sometimes by appointment, they might be open on a Saturday. They don’t serve food but check their Facebook page if a food truck is scheduled.

(512) Brewing Company is a microbrewery based in Austin offering over 30 craft beer varieties. The company is proud to use only the freshest local and organic ingredients while consciously controlling the brewing process up to distribution. The company is completely independent of the big brands, and features draft beers sold in reusable kegs. Instead of Bisphenol-A (BPA) lined aluminum, they serve their beers in durable glass. Perhaps a testament to their popularity, they were the largest buyers of organic malted barley in Texas in 2016. Catch them at over 715 locations around Texas. Even better, for $12 per person, drop by for their open house on Saturdays from noon to 4:00pm. The fee includes a tour of the brewery's facilities, 6 samples, and a logo glass. You can also attend one of their Cellar Sessions, an intimate live music session filmed at the brewery featuring a musical artist.
