The US city of Barstow is located in Ward County in the state of Texas. It had a population of 349 as per the 2010 census. George E. Barstow, a respected irrigation expert, founded and established the town in 1892. The first courthouse in the town was put up a year later. By 1900, the town had a population of 1,000. Barstow experienced remarkable growth in its formative years. It won a silver medal in the 1904 World Fair due to its internationally recognized grapes. The town is also home to some of Texas' parks, museums, theaters, recreational centers and sporting places.
