As with other craft breweries, Under The Radar Brewery got its start in homebrewing. Its three founders brewed in their garage until they realized they could bring their hobby to the next level. Starting out small and opening without so much as a sign, the brewery’s name suggests how things were initially done at the brewery. It also found a perfect spot among condos and townhomes, and further bolsters the under-the-radar nature of the brewery. Their taproom, though small, has an outdoor area, and serves five “usuals” (their core beers) and a couple of seasonal/ special beers. It’s also kid- and dog-friendly, much like a backyard in one’s neighborhood. They’re not canning their brews yet, but do check their website for updates on where their beers are available.

A family owned and operated craft brewery in Houston, Southern Yankee Beer Company is known for bringing novel brews to the people! The owners are family of beer lovers, world travelers, and Houston transplants. They are passionate beer nerds that answered a call to brew for Houston, Spring, and Conroe. They offer a rotating selection of beers brewed in-house, including their five mainstays “Who's Paul? Pale Ale, HEYYEAYEA DIPA, Porter's Porter, Que Pablo Mexican Lager, and Fuzzy Bastard Cream Ale.” The taproom is located upstairs with plenty of seats and TVs while the bar outside is located in a small hut with a lot of seatings as well. Southern Yankee Beer Company is dedicated to make better beer, providing a better experience, and forging a larger beer community. It is family friendly, and there are usually food options from local food trucks that come out to serve.

All of Walking Stick Brewing Company’s beers take inspiration from the Rockies that have been so much a part of Andy and his wife, Angie. The brewery’s beers are named after the “14ers”, the 53 mountains in Colorado exceeding 14,000 feet. "Amazing Houston brewery" with an "atmosphere" that is "perfect for a spring night". There are "tons of outdoor seating, and a few indoor options as well". The owners are "fantastic to chat beer with" and the rest of the service is also "equally as pleasant". "The flight" will "not disappoint" anyone "as all the beers" are "awesome". There are also "a few really unique brews, and others just great, solid beer". Definitely, "great beer choices, a great taco truck and gorgeous flowers everywhere!" Furthermore, "pet-friendly, parking is easy, in walking distance to other bars, in a neighborhood area, and has lawn games".

The six owners of Eureka Heights Brewing Company, three married couples actually, named their brewery after a fault line that runs through The Heights area in Houston. By design, the brewery specializes in “sessionable beers” with low ABVs. Seasonal offerings - some with higher ABVs - complement their core beers. At the spacious 20,000 square feet taproom, a former food distribution warehouse, visitors can see the gleaming stainless steel tanks while enjoying their beers. Open since fall 2016, the brewery is popular for their Wednesday Trivia Nights. The breweries started canning their beers in summer 2018, and these are already available in major stores. The team keeps things around the brewery light and humorous. For example, the owners usually name their beers after inside jokes or references.  Food is available via local food trucks, and the outdoor seating area is pet-friendly.

The Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company thrives on creativity and imagination. It has a simple mission: (1) “create great craft beer that is unapologetically Houston,” and (2) “bring people around great beer.” Their slogan reflects it – “Houston’s most creative brewery”. Founded by two friends Ras Zarinfar and Ryan Robertson in March 2011, many things have happened since they started at their original location on Nolda Street. Once a boat storage warehouse, they imagined, and created, a successful brewery and taproom business. About 70 craft beers later, they imagined bigger things for their Houston community. Within six weeks, the company raised $1M in funding from 583 individuals to build a 28,000 sq. ft. brewery and taproom. The new location opens in Fall 2019, with three floors of beer goodness. It’s much like, as the owners would like to say, Willy Wonka’s beer factory, but run by a Belgian monk in Texas cowboy boots! The deck offers spectacular views of the Houston skyline! Imagine that…

Established in December 2006, Phoenix On Westheimer is a Houston neighborhood brewpub. This “home-away-from-home” invites guests to “a welcoming place” and features an extensive selection of house brews and craft beers from other popular Texas breweries. They also carry craft beers from other states, several national brands, and even European imports. There is wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages, of course, and the food menu is just as extensive. Because it’s a sports bar, after all, there are 5 large projection screens and 24 LED TVs. They even say that if a game is “televised or legally streamed”, they should have access to it. Not interested in the game? There are other ways to unwind, including billiards. Still not convinced? They have daily deals that might just make you drop by for a visit.

Established by husband Adam Cryer and his wife, Sarah Pope, the Baileson Brewing Company features two of man’s best friends – beers and pooches. The “pooches” part come from the company’s name – a combination of the couple’s two dogs Bailey and Jameson. (They have a third fur baby called Beau, who came later.) The brewery, of course, supplies the handcrafted beers, especially ales. Located in the outskirts of the Rice Village area in Houston, the brewery was an old gas station built in 1950 until the building became an auto-service station in the mid-1970s. The couple retained the exterior canopy, which serves as the brewpub’s patio, and fitted it with picnic tables. They allow non-beer fans to bring wine from their neighbor next door, and allow outside food. The place, of course, is “dog-friendliest”, with the couple claiming that their pooches “have better social lives” than their humans.

Co-founders Ken Goodman and Chuck Robertson started with the distribution company CR Goodman Distribution Co., which brought in various labels into Texas. In 2008, they set out establish their own brewery, and by 2011, Karbach Brewing Company set up brewing operations in Houston. The company grew rapidly fast and the company moved to a larger brewhouse by 2014. In May 2016, the brewery added an on-site restaurant and biergarten. To much publicity in November 2016, the brewery announced the company's acquisition by Anheuser-Busch InBev. With this development, the brewery expects to expand capacity to 150,000 barrels per year in 2019. The brewery continues to produce popular its "mainstays" Hopadillo IPA, Love Street Kolsch-Style Blonde, and Crawford Bock, among others. They also continue to produce their popular seasonal and specialty series beers. Tip: The brewery conducts daily tours with schedules posted on their website. They require visitors, however, to wear closed-toe shoes.
