Gladewater is a city located in both Gregg and Upshur counties in Texas. At the 2010 census, the city’s population was 6,441. The town was established by the Texas and Central Railway in 1873. The first post office of the town was established on August 22, 1873, and the town was incorporated just one year later. The U.S Bureau states that the city has a total area of 12.2 square miles, and almost five percent of it is water. The city of Gladewater is being distributed by the Gladewater Independent School District. The city is well known as a base for Elvis Presley’s early career.
