Lasara is a CDP located in Willacy County in Texas. At the 2010 census, the town’s population was 1,039. Lasara gained its name after German settlers’ wives who were Laura Harding and Sarah Gill. Lasara used to be a part of Spanish lands. But was originally founded in 1924. A school district came into service in 1925, and one year later the town gained its post office. The town’s population was around 150 in the 1950s, it declined to 100 in the 1990s but swollen immensely just ten years later. Lasara is actually serviced by its own Independent School District.
