Magnolia is a city located in the southwestern part of Montgomery County, Texas State. As per the 2010 census, the town’s population was 1,393. On September 3, 1885, John F. Dobbs established a post office at Mink. Magnolia city was founded in 1845 when a farmer named Mink Prairie built a homestead. The International-Great Northern Railroad in 1902 built a railway line through the area which was named Melton after Jim Melton, a large landowner in the county. The population of the town was 25 in 1900 and rose to 1,150 by 1971. The town was a railroad station and was later on incorporated on September 28, 1968.
