Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base is located in Fort Worth, Tarrant County. It is a multi-service operation with approximately 40 commands operating there. NAS Fort Worth JRB generates $1.3 billion annually to the local economy and to the North Central Texas region. NAS Fort Worth JRB is the successor of the former Naval Air Station Dallas. Strategic Air Command, starring James Stewart, was partly filmed at the base. The base has an Army and Air Force Exchange Service post exchange and a Commissary. In the 1930s, NAS Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth was known as Tarrant Field, but later as Carswell Air Force Base from 1948 to 1993.
