Weinert is a city in Haskell County, in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located on FM 20, north of the county. Weinert was founded in 1906 when a railroad was build in the area. It was named after Senator Ferdinand Weinert who was from the nearby city of Seguin. A catastrophic storm hit the town in 1909 and a devastating fire burned a block of businesses in the area just the following year. Despite the tragic events, Weinart was able to recover. In 1940, it had 510 residents and fifteen operational businesses. However, the number of its townsmen greatly reduced over time. Perhaps it was the changes in its transportation and agricultural patterns that brought the number of residents down. As of 2010, it has a population of 172.
