The town that is known as Whitharral was initially established in 1924. The town itself was named after John Whitfield Harrald who was one of the agents of the Yellow House Land Company who sold the land to local farmers. The public school of the town was established in 1925, and a post office started operating just one year after that. The town of Whitharral is an unincorporated community situated in Hockley County in Texas. The town’s total population is an estimate of around 170 residents. The community’s public education system is being provided by the Whitharral Independent School District.
