Founded by Brewmaster Dennis Wehrmann, Franconia Brewing Co. is a company in McKinney that started operations in 2008. Dennis comes from a long family line of brewmasters. He traces his family’s involvement in beer to a great great grandfather. Grandfather Schaubert owned and operated a brewery in Germany in the 1800s. Dennis also got his start in traditional German brewing practices in Germany until his move to the U.S. in 1999. Under his guidance, Franconia strictly follows the Reinheitsgebot or German Purity Law. They only stray from tradition for special releases. The brewery is also equally known for their “green” brewing practices. The brewery’s eco-friendly facilities include an on-site mini-power plant that works on renewable fuels such as solar and natural gas. 100% of the plant's power requirement comes from these renewable sources. They use 100% natural ingredients and also donate spent mash for conversion to cattle feed by local farmers.

Funky Picnic Brewery & Café founders Samantha Glenn, Collin Zreet, Jenni Hanley, and John Koch believe that a picnic isn’t complete without food and beer. One can’t be more important than the other. Located in the South Main Village of Fort Worth, the brewery believes in “honoring classic techniques while also experimenting with new styles and terroir-based ingredients”. What this all means is a variety of beers – 16 at last count – that cater to different tastes. Their menu, meanwhile, was carefully designed with a beer pairing in mind. So go ahead – ask them for a recommendation. Not a beer drinker? No problem – they have a selection of wines and hard ciders. There’s even a special kid-friendly menu and non-alcoholic beverages. Hemisphere Brewing Company opened in 2017 and creates “handcrafted, traditional and not-so-traditional beers” at their brewery in Rockwall. Its owners are Brandon Mullins and Ruben Garcia and both trace their friendship back to 1998, when both were playing together for a band. Both have a passion for good quality beers, and the first-time business owners eventually established the company in 2012. The road to opening the taproom was long and bumpy, but they finally opened on St. Patrick’s Day 2017. They currently have a lineup of 13 beers including the well-received Black Sacrament (an American Imperial Stout). With more beers planned for launch, the duo invites fans to join The Breakfast Club. It’s a members-only club that, among others, gets you access to private beer tastings and brewery merchandise.

Hop and Sting Brewing Company is the former Grapevine Craft Brewery and founded by its former brewers Brian Burton and Jon Powell. Between them, both Brian and Jon conceptualized many of Grapevine’s recipes during their time at the brewery. Retaining almost all the former employees of Grapevine, they jumpstarted the brewery’s operations in June 2018. They named their new brewery after the tale concerning a frog and a scorpion. “It’s our nature to brew”, they say, and they will risk everything to brew “high quality, small batch craft ales and lagers”. The brewery features the Pint Club where members get $3 off on their first beer during each visit. Drop by during “Geeks Who Drink” on Wednesdays or Sundays for a fun, trivia-filled time. They are also open to hosting special events at the taproom and the brewery’s grounds.

Owned by Macy Moore and Matt Hill, HopFusion Ale Works celebrates the craft beer experience. Both owners are passionate about innovation and art, and they’ve fused these concepts into each craft beer they’ve created. “Craft beer is about the experience”, they both say. Opened on the anniversary of the repeal of prohibition on December 5, 2015, Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery hopes to help in the continuing revitalization of downtown Garland. They aim “to serve our community by delivering products of quality, creativity, flavor, and intrinsic value.” Located in a beautifully renovated building, the brewery serves up about 30 different beers, including its own creations. Some beers are from local breweries while others are products of collaborations with other breweries. Their carefully selected menu of briskets and barbecues, of course, pair well with the brews.
