Dorper is a single-purpose breed, developed specifically for premium meat characteristics. They do not produce as much lanolin as wool sheep but the flavor and aroma of the meat are milder than wool sheep meat. There are also abundant coastal hay, native grasses, and forbs on their place along the banks of the Guadalupe River which is very conducive to sheep.
