A "very cool place located close to San Antonio". "Situated amongst the old buildings in Old Town Helotes" and "tucked amongst the live oaks". "The majority of the wines" they make "are sweet, and a few dry wines". The sources of grapes are "California to Texas and Italy for some of their specialty wines". "Aside from all the wines on the menu that they have all year round they also make seasonal wines, ports, and frozen wine". They also "do offer discounts for teachers and military".

Timber Ridge Winery

Winery in Pipe Creek - 11.66 mi

Timber Ridge Winery is the only winery in Bandera County and they are located on the eastern edge near Pipe Creek. You will notice that the labels on their wines are a reflection of the local features in their area. A tree pictured on the Merlot label. This tree is also in the parking lot. Their Orange Muscat has a picture of the rock structure that visitors can see upon entering their place. There are "not many options out" there "but this one has a great wine". You will "loved the Orange Muscat" of this "small winery with big dreams!" Their Merlot is "nice" which is a "dryer variety". They have no website but they have a Facebook page. It is better to call them first before visiting and make sure it is the Texas location and not the one located in Pennsylvania.

Whisper Path Cellars

Winery in San Antonio - 18.79 mi

Whisper Path Cellars is located in San Antonio. They have won their "first medal" on their "very first vintage" in LSIWC. The Lone Star International Wine Competition (LSIWC) is the oldest wine competition in Texas. Their Tempranillo and Monastrell are the wines that have won bronze medals. You can find these wines and their other wines at selected wine shops, tasting rooms, and restaurants in the San Antonio and Hill Country regions. You can also buy their wines at their online shop. Check out their website for upcoming events and newly released wines. They are a winery only with no tasting room.

The Stray Grape Urban Winery

You "may wonder how a winery can be in a nondescript strip mall" but "do not let the location stop you from visiting". The Stray Grape Urban Winery "is a cute little place on the northeast side of town". This "place is really nice and relaxing" with "live music". They only produce  30 bottles at a time and each wine contains low-sulfides for freshness aside from decreased headaches. Aside from being a "great place to try new wines", you will also be "impressed with the service" when you visit. The staff is also "very helpful if you are not sure what your tastes in wine are". You can even "bottle your own wine and create labels if you have an event or something".

Hill Country Cellars Winery

Winery in Bandera - 20.63 mi

"Located just east of Bandera, Hill Country Cellars Winery is  family-run winery that has a fun, relaxed wine bar atmosphere to allow you to sit and sip for a while in a cool welcoming space". They have a selection of "very good wines with a great story of how they started". Even if you have "have never been a wine fan", once you "tried their Black Spanish Lenoir", you "will go back". You will "love this wine! It's bold, very flavorful and tickles the sides of your tongue perfectly!" "Rose of Shiraz and Gillys Symphony" are other "outstanding" wines too. Aside from "cheese tray" and "tapas to pair with your favorite selection", they also "have a fun area in the back to play washers and horseshoes and live music sometimes".

Lara Vineyard

Winery in San Antonio - 24.57 mi

Lara Vineyard is the only vineyard in Bexar County. This is a "great small place to have some wine with your significant other or your friends". It is "a beautiful location for private events with wonderful wine and delicious brick oven pizza". "The views are awesome and there is always a nice breeze". Try the "Cabernet Sauvignon" which is "very light" and has "an excellent taste". You may even have "a chance to try their wine made from a hibiscus flower (no grapes)" which is "really good". They will make you "feel right at home" and they are "very educational" in giving "background on their wines".
