Brutal Beerworks owners Eric Johnson, Sallie McIntyre, and Jason Perez named their craft brewery after the “brutal” journey towards opening their dream business. Eric had been a passionate homebrewer and Jason is a professional brewer at another brewery. The two met, and with Sallie joining to do the stuff that neither wants to do, they were on their way to building their dream.
Or so they thought. The dream took a “brutal” route including application delays due to the government shutdown. Fundraising and many other problems came their way. Finally, on Father’s Day 2019, they opened the brewery to the public and became North Richland Hills’ first brewery.
The owners initially came up with a different name for Brutal Beerworks, but in the end, the name seemed fitting. Brutal, yes, but (or is it “and”?) it’s definitely good beer according to initial reviews. On a side note, Eric’s giving away free beer to the first person to give the original name they thought of for the brewery.
