Fred is located in southeastern Tyler County, Texas. The principal shipments from the town were cotton and hides. The logging industry was also a primary source of employment for people in the area. Hunting wild hog and deer and fishing are favorite pastimes of the residents of Fred. The Annual Fred Halloween Carnival that has been supporting Fred Elementary for over 50 years. The Little Leagues Mayfest and Parade are the town’s biggest festivals. Haunted Hill Haunted House established in 1977, located on Atlantic Pump station Road is the oldest running haunt in Southeast Texas and is free to the community. Fred is home to the Hall of Fame Southern Sunshine and Southern Nightmare Monster Trucks.
