Megargel Town is located in Archer County in the US state of Texas. The 2010 census reported the town’s population as 203. It is named after Roy C. Megargel, who at the time served as the president of the railroad that would later develop the town. Megargel’s establishment was a result of a railroad being extended to Seymour and Jacksboro. It was founded in 1910. Within three months of its establishment, Megargel had developed several businesses because land purchasers had received discounts to encourage them develop their lots. By 1923, the town’s population was 475, an increase from the 350 reported in 1914.
