O'Donnell, a West Texas city that is situated primarily in Lynn County but also has a small area going south into Dawson County, Texas. The city was named after Tom J. O'Donnell, a railroad promoter, in 1910 wherein he was also involved in promoting the city as a railroad town for the Pecos and Northern Texas Railway. The Pecos and Northern Texas Railway later merged with the Panhandle and Santa Fe system with all remnants of the railroad in O'Donnell getting abandoned and removed by 1999. With a total area of 0.86 square miles, it has a population of 824 in 2017 composed of 73.4% White, 1.2% African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 20.3% from other races, and 4.1% from two or more races. Also, Hispanics or Latinos of any race composed 62.8% of the population. L P Askew Farms Airport (00XS) is also located in O'Donnell.
