Owned by David Watson and wife Laura, it is a small-batch micro-distillery creating handcrafted rums in Wimberley. The decision to put up the distillery came after Daniel and his brother tasted some good rum while vacationing in Mauritius. At first, they thought of simply importing the rum into the U.S. A rig welder by profession, David eventually struck out on his own, and built the distillery from scratch. D.E.W. Distillation, LLC currently produces the Cypress Creek Reserve Crystal Rum and the Crystal Creek Reserve Vanilla Flavored Rum. They also sell their Vanilla Extract at the distillery. Created by “aging our Crystal Rum with Tahitian Vanilla Beans”, the rich extract is “ideal for flavoring, cakes, cookies, pastries, and ice cream”.
