Sarita is a census-designated place (CDP) in, and the county seat of Kenedy County, Texas, United States. It’s the only settlement in an otherwise empty county and it has a population of 238. It’s mostly known for being the most liberal city in Texas. The city was created in 1904 and was named after the daughter of its founder John G. Kenedy. It has a Catholic church, an elementary school, and a courthouse. It was a subject of a fake news hoax in 2014 when it was said to be occupied by the “La Raza militants”, which turned out to be a lie.
