Cartermere Farm

A family farm just outside of Celina, Cartermere Farm is close to people in Northcentral Texas. The farm sits in three hundred acres of land, by which, 38 acres is a lake. The lake made it to the farm's name. The family who owns the lake are the Carters, and the old English word for lake is mere. Therefore, Cartermere literally means Carter's Lake. The farm tries to produce the best quality food they can while sticking to organic and sustainable methods. Nelson Carter, the owner, now sells fresh eggs, organic produce, and grass-fed lambs. Chandler Family Farm

Chandler Family farm is a small family farm in the heart of Maybank. The owners of the farm are incredibly passionate about producing pasture-raised meat and growing their own produce. Currently, the farm contains over a hundred hens, five roosters, and over forty rock broilers. They also have two dogs named Mabel and Honey, a cat named Grey Kitty, a horse named Olive, and a special bull calf named Lucky. They sell veggies depending on the season. What people keep coming back for are their free-range chicken eggs. They also offer pasture-raised beef and pork. Surprisingly, they also offer cut flower bouquets. In Choctaw (American Indian) language, 'chickamaw' means native, or sacred land. The Chickamaw Organic Farm & Ranch is the only certified biodynamic farm in Texas. This certificate means that the farmers focus on healing the farmland by nurturing it properly. This method is done so that in return, the farm can 'heal' us through the food it produces. According to the owner, everything they do to the soil, water, land, and animals matter a lot because it is what we also do to ourselves. Therefore, getting food from properly raised food means we are also correctly taking care of ourselves. The farm offers five different kinds of blueberries and Irish Dexter beef. Chisholm Trail Grass Fed Beef is a cooperative that local Texan ranchers operate. They obtain beef from small ranches that the American Grass-fed Association has certified. The 100% grass-fed cattle they produce is much leaner than grass-finished ones. Instead of tasting greasy meat, what you'll have is a juicy beef due to its higher moisture and high-fat content. Now don't worry yet! Yes, it is high in fat, but it is still low in cholesterol. Moreover, the beef contains more omega-3, vitamin B6, and beta-carotene. The owners of Circle-N Farms established the business in 2012. However, the owners family have been farming and raising cattle for over fifty years using sustainable and natural methods. To continue their family's legacy, all their beef a raised free of chemicals, hormones, and feeds. They allow their cattle to roam in a peaceful pasture freely. Facebook reviews say all their beef are great tasting, super tender, and surprisingly lean. It is just a few miles outside Denton Texas. See them for their beef! Cody Smith, the owner of Cobb Creek Farm, established the business in 2012. In the beginning, the only had cows in the ranch. Eventually, he added sheep and chickens to the farm. Little did Cody expect that the chickens will bring a significant impact to his farmland. Quickly after he added the chickens, grass and insects have flourished in the area. Soon after, Cobb Creek focused on breeding chickens. Today, Cobb Creek is one of the largest pastured chicken producers in the USA.  But Cody keeps on improving. Collier Farm

Carroll Collier and his daughter Jeannette Shaw are the current owners and managers of Collier Farm. However, its history dates back to 1919 when Carroll's grandpa, Guy Collier, started working on the farm. In 1919, the farm did not have any cows. Instead, it had cotton and peanuts. It was in the 1940s when Guy Decided to fill the farmland with grass to prevent erosion. Then, cows came, and the cattle business has since grown. On our last count, the farm had sixty commercial Red Angus cows, and two registered Red Angus bulls. They keep the 'bulls' for their breeding programs. These cows have 12 pastures to freely-roam all-year-round. In addition, the farm also has seven beehives that pollinate the farm plants. In 2017, they started delivering, and people have received them very well. They have been personally shipping to Wise, Montague, and Jack counties. Contact them to inquire!

In a hundred miles east of Dallas, you will reach Comeback Creek Farm. John, the owner of Comeback Creek Farm, founded the farm in 2005. His wife, Aliza, started helping hin in 2012. With a hundred-acre land, they can produce different produce. To get a portion of their harvest, you can join their Farm Box Program.  Being community-supported agriculture allows them to get funds from members before planting crops. In return, their members get boxes of produce during harvest season. They also supply produce to local chefs and restaurants. Jeremiah Cunningham, the owner of Coyote Creek Farm, founded the business in 1997. In 2007, they opened the first organic feed mill in Texas. It has helped farmers provide organic food to their animals while lowering the carbon footprint of farming. Their feed only uses certified organic ingredients approved by the USDA. Also, all grains they use are grown organically without herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals. They offer feeds for turkeys, chickens, broilers, pigs, cattle, goat, sheep, and rabbits. Back then, they only raised chickens. Eventually, they added ducks, guinea hens, geese, rabbits, and pigs. Their meat is butchered and handled by Sebastien, himself. Facebook reviews from customers generally say their meat quality is impeccable, fresh, and consistent. On weekends, you can catch them at Downtown Austin, Cedar Park, Sunset Valley, and Hope (East Austin) Markets. Cross Creek Cattle Company

The people behind the Cross Creek Cattle Company are from a family that has been raising cattle in Texas since 1852. They are knowledgeable in properly raising cows. They founded the company in 1994 and used to raise commercial cattle. Then, they changed to the 'Beefmaster cattle.' What they offer now is fresh beef, making them great candidates for a beef show. Grass-fed beef generally contains less fat, calories, and cholesterol. But it contains for omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, beta carotene (that converts to vitamin A), and conjugated linoleic acid.
