Long Branch is an unincorporated coterie situated in Panola County in Texas. The estimated population of the town was 181 in the year 2000, as the Handbook of Texas states. The town’s location is fourteen miles southwest of Carthage which is the county seat of Panola County. The community was settled before the Civil War. The post office was granted in 1858. The town reached its peak population in 1914 when there were four hundred residents. The community itself is set at 371 feet above sea level. The public education system of the community is distributed by the Carthage Independent School District.
