Review of Lazy JJ Farm by TexasRealFood

Lazy JJ Farm is a small family farm and ranch just outside of Waco, Texas. They started June 1, 2016, intending to improve the condition of the land. "Animals fertilize the soil naturally"; that is why their "meat and eggs are clean"; you will love their products! Their customers keep on ordering because they "love the freshness of their products". Lazy JJ Farm "offers grass-fed beef, pasture-raised chicken and eggs, free-range pastured turkeys, and playground pork". All of their animals are grazed rationally on to fresh grass pastures. They only feed a non-GMO grain ton their pigs, chickens, and turkeys. They also opened the Cotton Exchange Cafe last Fall 2017 on the historic downtown square of Hillsboro, Texas. It is an actual "Farm to Fork" restaurant featuring their very own products!

Grass Fed / Pastured

The term “grass fed” (as opposed to grain fed) refers to meat obtained from cows that were raised on a diet of grass and other forage, such as clover; situated in pasture and, when fresh grass is unavailable, hay. This helps to denote the difference between livestock that has been raised in feedlots and generally fed a diet of soy and corn, versus animals that have had access to their natural feeding environment in pasture, which contains grasses, wildflowers, and herbs. This term overlaps with “pasture-raised” and will usually be seen together. Grass-fed beef is also believed to taste better, and be better for the environment, too. There are several organizations that offer a certification for Grass Fed, such as the American Grassfed Association, Certified Grassfed by A Greener World, and Pasture for Life, to name a few.
