The Brookesmith unincorporated community id located in Brown County, in the US state of Texas. It lies between Spring Branch and Clear Creek. The community was founded in 1902 and named after Brooke Smith by David Smith. Brooke was a renowned Brownwood banker. The area was granted a post office in 1903. Other than Brooke and David, the area’s other early settler was known as Aaron Lee. Before the decline of cotton farming in the 1950s, Brookesmith had three cotton gins among other businesses. In the 1980s, the town had a twelve-grade school, a gas station, a store, and the post office.
