Being part of the Tyler Metropolitan area, Chandler is located in Henderson County, Texas. The original name of the town was Stillwater. By mid 1930s the cotton industry had declined and the local economy was replaced to farming. The area was originally inhabited by Caddo Indians. The name Chandler came from Alphonso H. Chandler. Beautifully landscaped McCain Park has won an award by Keep Chandler Beautiful. The Chandler Museum & Visitor Center is located within the McCain Park. In Chandler, the Annual Pow Wow and Holiday in the Park is held annually. Additional tourist attractions include the Caldwell Zoo and TJC Planetarium.
