The US unincorporated community of Era is found in Cooke County in the state of Texas. It is a small farming town founded in 1878 and located in the southwest of Cooke County. Era’s story begins with Judge J. M. Linday donates six acres of land to construct a school. The town was named in honor of Era Hargrove, a pioneer settler’s daughter. Today, Era has a convenience store, a feed store, a hair salon, a welding shop, two mechanics’ shops, a volunteer fire department, a post office, and a school. One of the tallest structures on Earth — Liberman Broadcasting Tower Era — is located seven miles west of this community.
