Kaufman is a city located in Kaufman County in Texas. The city is also a county seat. The population of the town used to be 6,703 at the 2010 census. The city was established in 1840. It was established by Dr. William P. King. The community then went by the name of “Kings Fort”. Dr. King bought 2.5 square miles of land where Kaufman is situated right now. After 5 years of progress, the town was renamed to Kingsboro. In 1852. The town was yet again renamed after the Kaufman County was formed. The town’s got the name from a Texas attorney David S. Kaufman. The city was the first place where Bonnie Park was imprisoned.
