Kress is a city located in Swisher County in Texas. As of the 2010 census, the town’s population was 715. The town’s original name was Wright after it was founded in 1890. After nearby railroads appeared, the town moved the post office and the general store towards it and was renamed for Pioneer George H. Kress. As stated by the U.S Bureau, the town only has a total area of 0.6 square miles while all of it is land. The city itself is distributed by its own Independent School District. The town had a bankless period from the 1930s, but it was ended in 1963. When a bank was opened.
