A survey of several lifestyle, news, and review websites call the Memorial Villages Farmers Market a hidden gem. Apparently, those who said this and similar other comments have not visited this past winner of a popular Houston magazine’s Local Hero Award for Best Farmers Market in Houston.
The First Congregational Church’s picturesque grounds act as backdrop for the market. Open on Saturday mornings year-round, rain or shine, the market usually has 40-50 “high quality” vendors. It also features live music, and has ample parking. There are food demonstrations and guest lectures on some days, too.
The market is very family friendly with a playground for children nearby, and pet friendly, too. Ultimately, the organizers hope to support local farmers and have a place for the community to bring the family on a Saturday morning. Most important of all, they hope the community’s members are able to build quality relationships with one another.
