Littlefield is a city located in Lamb County in Texas. The city is also the county seat. The town’s population was 6,372 as of the 2010 census. The town’s main source of income is cotton. The area is perfect for growing cotton. The town itself was named after George Washington Littlefield who was a Mississippi native. XIT Ranch sold Yellow Houses to G.W. Littlefield. Having purchased the houses, he formed the Yellow House Ranch. G.W. Littlefield noticed that a new railway was being built and that it would pass through his ranch, he established Littlefield Lands Company and sold the northeastern area of the ranch. After this happened, a community was established by the name Littlefield.
