Bowie is a Texas town located in Montague County in the state of Texas. In 1881, the town commenced its operations independently. However, in 1882, Bowie town began to grow as the Fort Worth and Denver railway took shape. In 1884, there was a bank robbery on the first national bank in Bowie, but the robbers were caught and sentenced to death by hanging. President Franklin Roosevelt toured this town on a train in 1938. The president then bought biscuits from Amon G Carter, who grew up in Bowie. In 1941, Rex Beard Jr also robbed the bank but later captured in December.
