Sunset is an unincorporated community in Montague County, Texas, United States. The population is about 340 and it was once mistakenly placed in the in Wise County. The city existed for more than a century and then disincorporated on April 19, 2007. In 1882 the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad arrived, drawing off population from the smaller town of Pella. The population in 1900 was estimated to be over 600. It was also heavily hit by a wildfire in 2009 causing many residents to move. Median income for the community is a bit below $30.000
