Q for Quail

The state of Texas is known for the abundance of quail. It is home to four quail species that include the Northern Bobwhite quail which is the most popular, most numerous, and most widely distributed species in the state. Thus, such species tremendously impact Texas; it is home to over 175,000 quail hunters and there are over 400,000 participants who engage in feeding, watching, or photographing quail every year. In addition, it is also home to the Texas Quail Index, which helps in educating land managers, hunters, and the general public about the bobwhites’ population, habitat requirements and qualifications, and other factors related to the species.
